A blast from the past -- 2015
I am just back from a 7-day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. These trips are a cornerstone of my being able to restore my energy and to help me to refocus on what is important in my life. Ever since my first visit there in 1995, the Grand Canyon has had a special pull on me, and I find myself there again and again and every time I come away enriched. It is hard to pinpoint why this occurs for me, but this place has a strong power.
What are your sources of renewal or energy charge? What are your mechanisms for rediscovering what is important to you? How do you allow yourself time to reflect on your goals and values? How do you make basic contact with your environment? It is so important for overall wellness to be able to take time to reflect, renew, and restore. Often, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and neglect this very important part of our wellness. What are some ways that you can build this into your routine? Whether it is a yoga class once a week, a weekend away, a quiet afternoon with a friend, or a longer extended trip, make the time for yourself.
